Eight Tips For Those Who Want To Charm Headhunters

Captivating recruiters goes beyond the resume. Today, selection processes are much more analytical and, therefore, capture the greatest subtleties.

Far beyond the CV, today a candidate for any job vacancy is evaluated in many other ways, in relation to body posture, tone of voice and even on social media.

To delight recruiters when the opportunity to meet one of them comes up, Magui Castro, partner at CTPartners, one of the largest executive search companies in the world, highlights eight important tips to help you stand out.

Energy

The energy and enthusiasm for the interview count a lot. The candidate must be excited, but at the same time calm enough to answer questions clearly and accurately. “If you are having a bad day, reschedule the interview for another date. Your mood can certainly affect the conversation and you probably won’t have a second chance to make a good impression,” warns Magui.

Dress Code

Clothing is an essential item on the day of the interview. But don’t overdo it! For men, a dark suit or a blazer are appropriate attire for the occasion. Women should always opt for sobriety, avoiding low-cut tops and short clothes. The best options are classic outfits such as dress pants and shirts, small and delicate jewelry, as well as simple makeup and tidy hair. And be careful with the perfume.

Language

Do you pay attention to how you express yourself? Using the right language is essential if you want to charm the recruiter. “The candidate should not be too colloquial, much less overly formal. It is a good idea to practice, in whatever way you prefer, to be confident and able to express yourself in the interview,” Magui emphasizes.

Punctuality

Arriving late for the interview? This could cause you problems. Plan to arrive at least twenty minutes early to avoid problems or embarrassment with the recruiter.

Interest in the position

Prepare for the interview in advance. It is a good idea for candidates to research the company’s services, market, and main characteristics beforehand. This will help the recruiter choose the right candidate.

Information

An informed candidate, who is up to date and aware of the latest news from Brazil and the world, has a great chance of winning over the recruiter. “It is very important that the candidate knows how to talk about various subjects, as this shows that he or she is interested in different areas, and not just in his or her market,” says Magui.

Don’t lie

Always tell the truth in an interview, and on your resume too. “Lying is the worst thing a candidate can do. If you have stated that you have a certain type of course and education, know that headhunters will investigate and, in this situation, it would not be good if you were caught lying, would it?”, says Magui. Lying will certainly take you out of the selection process.

Be specific

The objective of the position is essential for you to be successful in the interview. If the position is for a financial director, it is not worth applying if your profile is that of a marketing director. Knowing what you want prevents you from losing credibility with the recruiter and shows that you are not desperate for a new position. “A good position, with your profile, will appear,” guarantees Magui.
